ASHOK DHIVRE
Ashok Dhivre is one of the most prolific painters of second generation post independence, his works mark a post-modernist shift in Indian painting. After the abstraction of Bombay and Baroda Schools and the wave of neo-tantrism, there came a lull in visual art that woke up again with pop jubilant imagery after the market opened to foreign investments in the 90s. In the early decade of 90s Dhivre, an island, began his experiments with physics and spirituality. Immensely attracted to Osho’s thinking, he immersed into many blends like Buddhism, Bhagavad Gita. The beautiful charcoals here with pockets of bright life energy that he had brought out with genteel deft lines and slight essence of colors is a culmination of all his philosophies, arduous practice, superior craft and intense belief in humanity. His passion now has mellowed into a ripe maturity of love, while his art ignites the sparkles of life, we call them quantums of space.
